It's pretty amazing how tons of snow and ice can change a landscape. I never really made good use of this beautiful patch of protected land when I was growing up in Amherst but when I was home over the holidays, I decided to check it out after a huge multi-day dumping of winter weather. This is what we saw on our way in.
On Christmas Day, we took a cruise through Sydney to capture how much snow had fallen - we haven't had this white a Christmas in years. After three days of snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, then more snow, the sun came out and really made things look beautiful.
We started at Blackett's Lake - just outside of Sydney - and made our way in to Sydney proper.
I can't believe I've never been up to one of these parties before. Last weekend we went to an art launch/open house/concert/skate jam at Homegrown Skateboards in Lahave. The event was in honour of Montreal artist/skateboarder Jon Browne and when we were there, Dockyard Boxer was finishing up their set.
As promised in my last post - here's a look at a different detour I took a few years ago as I drove home to Bridgewater from Amherst.
Last weekend I went back to Amherst to visit with family. I decided to take the scenic route on my way back to the South Shore and I'm glad I did.
